fa سوگیری روایی در تاریخ‌نگاری شهری نقدی بر کتاب «داستان تهران» Narrative Bias in Urban Historiography A Critique of the Book the Story of Tehran تخصصي Special پژوهشي Research کتاب «داستان تهران» تلاشی است برای ارائه روایتی از تاریخ و هویت شهر تهران که بر دو محور اصلی «معیار طبیعی» و «معیار اجتماعی» استوار شده است. در این روایت، شکل‌گیری و تداوم حیات شهری تهران از یک سو با ارجاع به پیشینه زمین‌شناختی بسیار کهن منطقه و از سوی دیگر با تأکید بر تنوع اجتماعی و فرهنگی جمعیت شهر توضیح داده می‌شود. پرسش اساسی آن است که آیا چنین رویکردی توانسته است تصویری منسجم و مبتنی بر شواهد علمی از تاریخ شهری تهران ارائه دهد؟ یا آنکه در مسیر تبیین شهر به ساده‌سازی‌های مفهومی و روش‌شناختی انجامیده است؟ هدف این مقاله، بررسی انتقادی مبانی نظری و شواهد مورد استفاده در روایت «داستان تهران» است. در این راستا، دو معیار محوری کتاب از منظر معیار طبیعی و اجتماعی تحلیل می‌شوند. یافته‌های این نقد نشان می‌دهد که روایت طبیعی کتاب، با تأکید بر قدمت زمین‌شناختی منطقه، به نوعی «طبیعی‌سازی» تاریخ شهری می‌انجامد، در حالی که روایت اجتماعی آن با ساده‌سازی ساختارهای اجتماعی و نادیده گرفتن نقش عوامل اقتصادی، نهادی و سیاست‌های شهری، تبیینی تقلیل‌گرایانه از نابرابری‌ها و تحولات اجتماعی تهران ارائه می‌دهد. در نتیجه، هر دو معیار مورد استفاده در کتاب، اگرچه در سطح روایت داستانی جذاب هستند، اما در سطح تحلیل علمی با محدودیت‌های مفهومی روبه‌رو می‌شوند. این مقاله با بررسی انتقادی ادعاهای مطرح‌شده در کتاب، بر ضرورت بهره‌گیری از رویکردهای میان‌رشته‌ای و تحلیل‌های مبتنی بر شواهد تاریخی و اجتماعی با نگاهی علمی در مطالعه تاریخ شهری تهران تأکید می‌کند.   The book The Story of Tehran represents an attempt to present a narrative of the history and identity of Tehran, predicated upon two principal axes: the “natural criterion” and the “social criterion.” In this narrative, the formation and continuity of Tehran’s urban life are elucidated, on the one hand, by referencing the region’s ancient geological background and, on the other hand, by emphasizing the socio-cultural diversity of the city’s population. The fundamental question arises: has such an approach succeeded in providing a coherent, evidence-based depiction of Tehran’s urban history, or has it resulted in conceptual and methodological oversimplifications in its attempt to explicate the city? This article aims to critically examine the theoretical foundations and the evidence employed in the narrative of The Story of Tehran. In this regard, the book’s two pivotal criteria—natural and social—are subjected to critical analysis. The findings of this critique indicate that the book’s natural narrative, by emphasizing the geological antiquity of the region, leads to a form of “naturalization” of urban history. Conversely, its social narrative, through the oversimplification of social structures and the circumvention of economic and institutional factors alongside urban policies, offers a reductionist explanation of Tehran’s social inequalities and transformations. Consequently, while both criteria utilized in the book are compelling at the level of storytelling, they confront significant conceptual limitations within the realm of scientific analysis.
