Societal development and the fulfillment of individuals’ responsibilities toward it are unattainable without a sound and strategic understanding of the issues at hand. Critique is the crucial missing link in the development process. It is a clear manifestation of Amr bil-Ma’ruf wa Nahi 'an al-Munkar (Enjoining the Good and Forbidding the Wrong) and a mandate emphasized by our religion, which classifies it among the Ancillaries of the Faith (Foru’ al-Din). The attention of experts to societal shortcomings and the establishment of a sustainable system to steadily and continuously monitor problems and articulate deficiencies—even if it falls short of offering solutions—serve as the prerequisite for growth and development. However, this tradition has long been forgotten in our society.

The Journal of Critical Reviews is the first scientific journal in the field of critical spatial studies, dedicated to the examination and critique of strategic issues. This journal serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas among specialists regarding the activities of specialized and interdisciplinary groups across the fields of “art, environment, landscape, urban and rural domains, architecture, cultural heritage, tourism, urban renewal, planning, management, and territorial development.” It aims to elevate critical insight within society by leveraging collective wisdom, refining information, and adopting an analytical approach.

Promotional, criticism, and debate forums are considered on par with articles published in scientific journals; they are registered in academic indices and databases, and are fully citable.

In its upcoming agenda, Nazar Research Center will publish the content of these forums in the form of scientific notes and articles in the Journal of Critical Reviews . As part of the center’s future initiatives, Critical Reviews —Iran’s premier scientific journal dedicated to critique—aims to introduce “criticism” as the missing link in development into the country’s specialized literature by addressing various topics within the journal’s scope in a specialized, methodical, and scientific manner.

Nazar Research Center’s track record includes the organization of 79 promotional and criticism forums, 65 national educational and theorizing workshops, and 12 international training courses.

Professors, scholars, and researchers are invited to submit their proposals for hosting promotional, criticism, and debate forums in the center’s specialized fields as well as interdisciplinary areas to the journal’s email address.
